The requested of the Patatera

This celebration has a great stake in Malpartida, Cáceres. There are parades, contests of compare, verbenas, but the big day of these celebrations is held Tuesday of Carnival, the feast of 'The loss of the Patatera'.
This celebration has its origins at the end of the 19th century, and lies in the habit of 'ask patatera' by young people, especially fifth. On Carnival Tuesday, young people celebrated the eminent arrival of lent, asking for the houses of the town Viands to then taste them in the 'pubs' in the town. The cheapest sausage and that most obsequiaban young people was the patatera product made with potato, animal fat, pork and paprika. From the 1980s (specifically in 1986), this feast is recovered by some associations and groups of friends in the town. Little by little, on this feast begins to large numbers of people participate, and the celebration takes a boom.
Passacaglia.

Currently this celebration is a Passacaglia entertained with brass bands, which begins at 12: 00 and part of the Plaza Mayor. It is simulating Malpartida, Cáceres streets 'requested' this sausage. Around noon comes back to the Plaza tasting the patatera: all over the world enjoy the Viands that lead into beautiful baskets, saddlebags and water tanks. Then begins a verbena popular until well into the night.
This Festival has now become the 'big day' in Malpartida, Cáceres. During this day come large numbers of people from villages in the region, as well as Caceres capital to the town. Also large numbers of tourists are attracted by the originality of the celebration, joy and color of this Carnival.
Ash Wednesday the Act that closes the Carnival is celebrated in Malpartida de Cáceres: 'The burial of the sardine', activity that also has a large participation of comparsas of children and adults.
Calico suits, simulating the women of yesteryear, and men with pants, white shirt and neckerchief of labrador, want to remember the ancient origin of the party. But also, agitanados suits combined with bright scarves, remember that it is Carnival and days of joy. Baskets and panniers can not miss this celebration, because here is collection of patatera and other sausages, which will be tasted throughout the day.
The value of this event lies in the originality of celebrating a Carnival day, how the party has evolved and above all, that is an intergenerational celebration, live where grandparents, parents, children and grandchildren.
