Gastronomy

In Malpartida de Cáceres, the rich cuisine is based on the development of products derived from pork and lamb, and as it is traditional, the annual calendar is marked by the gastronomic differentiation.

In the most important feast of the winter, Carnival, gives good account of the sausages, cured of the 'massacre' in the development of the cabbage with crop, in which this garden product is garnished with sausages, boferas, cotudillo, beard and crop of rib, resulting in a strong dish that brings us back to the old flavors. Also the patatera, singular sausage made from potatoes, paprika and pork fat, consumed on that date, especially in Mardi, day which celebrates the 'ordered from the patatera', possibly the biggest party that takes place in Malpartida and which attracts a large number of visitors.

In sweets, predominate the Pan fruit: rose, Coquillos, or chopsticks. The threads of air is consumed almost throughout the year, although they have become common during the Romería of San Isidro. In the complicated development egg threads, is still cooking ovens for its consumption during the Sunday of the Calvary (the Sunday before the Palm). And with its smell of anise, that invades all the people gives start to Easter celebrations that will be another opportunity to taste the Malpartidena gastronomy.

The empowerment of the local cuisine has led to celebrate different gastronomic days in which the restaurants and bars of the population to recreate these traditional recipes with a touch of creativity.

Fry lamb, preceded by stew, was and is still present in all the important festivals for being one of the most appreciated, especially in the traditional family meal of Easter Sunday that gives purpose to lent.

More than daily, but not less desirable include dishes such as Cocido, crumbs or the tomato soup accompanied by figs. Preparations adapted to the rural economy that allowed our ancestors the enjoyment of good food with a low budget.

In Malpartida not we forget the thrushes, fish raised in our ponds is consumed mainly fried, although traditionally they had other preparations such as mojo, the marinade and the entomatas thrushes.

Week of the Patatera Gourmet

During the week of Carnival you can taste tapas made with patatera, giving an innovative culinary use as traditional sausage. Migas carnavaleras or patatera toast roasted with honey, are some of the work of this year.

The Sunday before the celebration offered by retailers in Malpartida elaborations to database products such as cod, eggs or stew, typical of these dates.

Route of the Cover

It is celebrated on September 8, day of Extremadura, since 2006 and has become an appointment must for Malpartida de Cáceres. Our innkeepers innovate from traditional products, offering a varied sample of presentations and elaborations that are the subject of a professional competition.
